Overview

Holswort was founded durring the late 14th century in summer of the year 1254, by Ma̋chvé̄ Vúch 'Spring Cutie' Ca̋mé̄ Ya̋m Bé̄̄kīy Wellington. The establishment of Holswort was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Ma̋chvé̄ Vúch 'Spring Cutie' Ca̋mé̄ Ya̋m Bé̄̄kīy Wellington struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Holswort as a prison colony.

Holswort was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Holswort is no diffrent. The village's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Holswort is is constructed arround a series of broad paverstone mainstreets which form overlapping circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The village is the proud owner of a properly designed set of renforced walls made from mighty querried stone blocks. Their construction and material choices would make a dwarf weap with joy, for each and every part of the elaborate fortifications are purly functional and robust well byond reason. Even nonexperts can tell the walls are an excelent defencive structure. The village's exceptionaly well made fortifications have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the village.

Holswort has the unmistakable air of a village on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Holswort ’s existence was once fed by scholarly pursuits. But the income once drawn in by the works of scribes and academics has dried up and the village is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Everywhere about the village one can see abandoned schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the village places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Even in these times.

Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Holswort was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Holswort lost 138 people, 309 livestock, and 37 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 202, when members of Holswort 's militia enacted an operation to assassinate an enemyreligious figure. The operation was complicated by gale force winds which drowned out orders and hampered ranged combat. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in victory for Holswort 's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Holswort 's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
